Ledge House

Cornwall, CT. This home in Cornwall CT, designed by Desai Chia Architects was made to resonate with the history of the western Connecticut valley and make use of a materials palette that is also environmentally friendly. An old cabin stood where the house currently does and while the structure was taken down, the foundation was repurposed for the new home. This greatly reduced construction waste and allowed the house to take advantage of the surrounding views.

The result is an open, airy home with a lofted kitchen and dining space surrounded by views of the valley. A main bedroom flanks one end of the house, while two guest bedrooms flank the other end. The entire space (minus bathrooms) are finished in our engineered European Oak flooring in Dimma and lends to the light and airy feeling of the space. There is a built-in bench and niche in the entry hall which extends the wood flooring all the way up into the bench, wall and ceilings of the nook. The entire home is a study in materiality and nature and is an elegantly designed expression of both.
