Madera provides a curated collection of finished hardwood and reclaimed wood floors and wall surfaces for the architecture and design community. We rely on the highest quality manufacturing and finishing techniques while drawing from the organic minimalism of Scandinavian design. Our goal is to highlight the natural perfection of wood in every project. We are located across from the Navy Yard in Brooklyn and manage a creative space where architecture, interior design, and art merge together in a forward thinking environment. Madera is growing rapidly and will be adding a West Coast location in Los Angeles in 2017.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Madera is growing rapidly and we’re looking for a candidate with an entrepreneurial spirit who is willing to think outside the box and take initiative to improve the way we manage our logistics. The Logistics Manager will be responsible managing Madera’s logistics and shipping activities and developing systems to help us grow and scale our business. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage Madera’s shipping and logistics systems and tools, including QuickBooks, Pipedrive, and Trello;
  • Advise Madera on how to improve and/or develop new systems and tools to streamline logistics and shipping processes;
  • Coordinate all shipments of materials and final products between suppliers, manufacturers and customers including the       preparation of purchase orders and invoices;
  • Manage relationships with shipping vendors and identify and develop new relationships as needed;
  • Provide timely updates on all shipments to Madera staff;
  • Coordinate with customers to schedule and facilitate timely delivery of orders,
  • Maintain shipping records for all projects, including purchase orders, BOLs
  • Manage Madera’s product samples inventory system;
  • Maintain oversight of product samples stock levels, order new materials, and prepare new samples as needed;
  • Manage the shipment and tracking of product samples for customers;
  • Provide a high level of customer service when engaging with customers and vendors;
  • Support Madera in expanding its logistics and shipping systems to the new LA office;
  • Assist Madera with other tasks in line with the qualifications of the Logistics Manager as needed.

REPORTING

  • The Logistics Manager will report directly to the Managing Partner of the Brooklyn office and will work closely with Madera sales and project management staff. The Logistics Manager may supervise part time labor to help prepare samples as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in architecture, design, business, engineering or other related field with 5+ years’ work experience in the field (BA with additional experience will be considered)
  • Must have prior experience with logistics, shipping, or trucking
  • Humility – we are looking for a passionate professional who combines strong leadership skills with good humor, patience and a humble approach to service to join our team
  • A proven track record in providing high levels of customer service
  • Effective listening and strong communication skills for interaction with customers, vendors and Madera staff
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, problem solve and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced start-up environment
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and a collaborative team player
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks and functions
  • Knowledge and familiarity with building materials and construction is advantageous
  • Knowledge and understanding of wood, timber industry and wood craftsmanship a plus

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and education
  • Benefit package includes health insurance, 15 days paid vacation, 8 days paid sick leave, paid public holidays, and flextime
  • Regular working hours are Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5:30PM, Showroom Saturdays 11AM-4PM
  • Madera employees are expected to work from our Brooklyn office and use a personal laptop
